On November 7th, Apple officially launched the first public beta version of iOS 18.2, bringing users many exciting new features, among which the most notable is the deep integration of Siri and ChatGPT.
Free use of ChatGPT without creating an account: Privacy is fully protected
In iOS 18.2, users can use ChatGPT for free through Siri without creating an account. Siri will leverage ChatGPT's expertise to answer users' questions more accurately and efficiently, and seek explicit permission from users before querying to ensure that user privacy is fully respected. Apple emphasizes that when calling ChatGPT, it will strictly hide the user's IP and promises that neither Apple nor OpenAI will save the user's ChatGPT request records to ensure the security of user data.

Multiple functions launched: Visual Intelligence, Image Playground, Genmoji
In addition, iOS 18.2 also introduced the Visual Intelligence, which is considered an important upgrade to the iPhone 16 series camera button. Users only need to aim at any object, long press to recognize it, and obtain relevant information. For example, when facing a restaurant, comments will be automatically presented, and when facing an object, detailed introductions will be displayed, greatly enhancing the user experience.
In addition to the above highlights, iOS 18.2 also brings multiple other updates. The Image Playground allows users to generate images based on text descriptions, freely input content, and select elements such as clothing and location for creation. At the same time, users can also create characters similar to friends or family, and choose photos as inspiration sources, further enriching the fun of image generation.
What’s more, the Genmoji function has also received much attention. Users can create custom emoji characters based on descriptions and phrases, adding more personalized elements to chatting and socializing. At present, this feature is limited to iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2, and a macOS Sequoia version will be released in the future.
Optimization of writing tools
In terms of writing tools, iOS 18.2 has also been optimized. Users can more freely modify the tone or content of texts, such as converting emails into poetry, providing more possibilities for creation. Meanwhile, Apple Intelligence now supports English in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom, further expanding the scope of language services.
